Rattle That Lock…Stars Align..

In 2015, when I read the title of the new David Gilmour album, “Rattle That Lock,” I immediately thought out loud, “Yeah, I’m trapped with this enigma, and there’s no way out.” Rattling the lock on a cage was what I was supposed to do. In other words, I should write the story, tell what happened, and free myself.

Also, at the beginning of the song “Five A.M.”, the first song on the album, you hear what sounds like a cage opening. On the album cover, there is an image of an opened cage on a gold field and birds that had flown out. The bright gold-colored field reminded me of the field on the cover of The Division Bell album.

One of the main reasons I finally decided to tell my story and the Enigma was due to the song “Dancing Right In Front of Me,” lyrics by David Gilmour. The title immediately reminded me of when I was directly in front of him while watching Pink Floyd perform on The Division Bell tour on July 15th. That’s the most important part of my story.

If you’ve been reading so far, you can easily interpret his lyrics:

In 2017, I finally did take a chance and started writing. For many years, the story wasn’t easy to put into words, and I had no support from fans. I made this website, I took one day at a time writing, and I still am. Everything I knew has always been inside me. It hasn’t been easy to carry around all these years, but I’m to tell it so I can have a brighter path. Gilmour wants to watch me fly and finally be free. His lyrics tell how he’s stuck waiting and being watched, which means he can’t say anything about it until the story gets out. It’s also that he’s waiting for fans to help. “Who’s to know where they have gone, just out of sight.” From the stage, fans started out as stars in his eyes.

On January 30, 2018, in the media, “Today, iconic legendary rock musicians Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers announced they will join forces for the “Stars Align Tour,” their co-headlining summer outing with Ann Wilson of Heart.” And like the lyrics, Gilmour is waiting for the stars to align and for me to write about how rock stars were aligning then and still are now…

I’ll talk about the new Jeff Beck Johnny Depp album called 18 which was just released on July 15, 2022. (Same date as the Floyd concert I talked about above) Do keep up…
